The faction "National Movement - Power is in Unity" is against the introduction of a 40% threshold for majoritarian candidates in the local self-government elections - MP Levan Bezhashvili spoke about it.
As Bezhashvili noted, the initiative, which was raised at today's plenary session, is not an issue to be discussed in the second reading.
"The issue has not been discussed at any stage so far. Looks like someone wanted to and made a backstage decision. There is no second round of elections in this country. The second round is for the government. If the candidates of the united opposition are nominated, the opposition has a chance to win the elections in the first round with a result of up to 40%," said Levan Bezhashvili.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairman of the Georgian Dream, there will be a 40% threshold for the majoritarian candidates in the self-government elections.
