Gia Volski – This frenzied attack on the Supreme Court has only one explanation: it was and is the political goal of the National Movement.

The court, like many other areas, has sunk into the reality of political controversy. We have a court today where the principle of selecting judges complies with  the international standards, as agreed with the Venice Commission," said Gia Volski, a member of the parliamentary majority.

He said the attack on the court was politically motivated. According to him, the attack on the judges is motivated by political purposes.

"The law that has been passed practically excludes any assumption that this standard will be violated in any way. So, there is only one reason for such an attack on the court, it is the political goal that the "National Movement" had and still has, starting from the time when this court has tried the leaders who have committed real crimes. Since the ruling team represented by  the leaders of the National Movement was distanced from the court, our court firmly occupies a place in the first 20 leading courts, where the assessment of the verdict and the independence of the judiciary is rated fairly highly by the international standard. This is the reality. We cannot dictate the decisions to  the court at  the advice of a mediator. The appointment of judges has been suspended for a long time and one of the main complaints of the society today towards the court, which indicates to a serious flaw, is the lack of qualified judges, which, of course, will need to be filled in the near future and to make decisions that serve the society and not any specific interests of political groups, even if it is the ruling political party” – stated Volski
