We have seen a collapsed state - this is how the former Prime Minister Gakharia responds after 2 days of silence, to the events on the streets of Tbilisi and the actions of the perpetrators.
According to Gakharia, the state failed to protect the Constitution and its citizens, journalists, tourists:
It was a political event, the hardest to watch was when we saw a collapsed state. When the state could not protect the constitution either, the state could not protect its citizens from physical violence, the state could not protect journalists from mass persecution, it could not protect tourists, it was just unbelievable, what we saw. It was an expression of incompetence. In addition, it was categorically unacceptable and unimaginable for me when the state, the ruling power and the leaders said to us: "Did we not warn you?"
In fact, we were told that they knew in advance that this would happen and warned us and beyond that, we were to fend for ourselves - the peak of incompetence.
People understand a nation such as, if the government warned me about the risks, about my physical safety and about constitutional integrity, if they place this responsibility to others, - its weakness. Therefore, as the government becomes unacceptable, its current bosses blame everything on others, the church, the citizens, Europe, the right, the left but never themselves. To me, It's very difficult to say this, when everyone should serve the country. - says Gakharia
