The German Ambassador to Georgia, Hubert Knirsch, says that they will observe how the state protects the basic rights of all citizens in Georgia. The embassy issued a statement saying that after the events of July 5-6, Georgia had pledged to the European Union to effectively protect the fundamental rights to freedom of assembly and expression.
"I welcome the Georgian government's promise in the EU-Georgia human rights dialogue. It is official in nature and much clearer than many other statements we have heard in recent days. We will continue to monitor how the state protects the fundamental rights of all citizens in Georgia." Said Hubert Knirsch
