Death of Alexander Lashkarava after being beaten by a mob is a matter of deep concern – Appathurai

The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance for the South Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai, responds to the death of Lekso Lashkarava, the cameraman of TV Pirveli, and writes that the developments in Georgia are disturbing:

"The death of Georgian journalist Alexander Lashkarava after he was beaten by a mob earlier this week is a matter of deep concern to all of Georgia's friends, including me. In a democracy, minorities are protected, the media is protected, freedom of speech is protected. These are Euro-Atlantic values. No institution or organization is free from this responsibility," Appathurai wrote.
