The meeting of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel and the representatives of the opposition starts in Batumi. The main messages of the opponents of the government will be about the events of July 5-6, the violation of the April 19 agreement, the media protest and the Euro-Atlantic future of the country.
Opposition groups told the media that they would also speak on behalf of the journalists to Charles Michel.
"At the meeting with Michelle, we will have very important messages, first, about the violation of the April 19 agreement, and second, of course, about the future of Georgia. Democracy backsliding makes it very clear that the Georgian government is doing everything to maintain power.
Attacks on journalists, attacks on minorities, including lack of responsibility on the part of the Interior Ministry and the Prime Minister, these will be our main messages," said Khatia Dekanoidze, a member of the United National Movement.
According to the MP, Salome Samadashvili, their position is that this government should be changed through early elections and the most important task for that is to fulfill the April 19 agreement.
After the meeting with the opposition, the President of the European Council will hold a meeting with the Prime Minister, Irakli Gharibashvili.
