Nika Melia, the opposition Tbilisi mayoral candidate, listed his three main priorities as Tbilisi Mayor on the show "Mtavari Accents" on "Mtavari Channel":
"A very important problem for me, which we constantly face, is that the City Hall, municipal boards are not the property of the people, but party institutions, this problem is to be solved once and for all. This problem has always existed since the Soviet Union.
Second, the budget of the capital is 1 billion 200 million GEL, imagine, there are 10 boards in the capital, all 10 boards have allocated only 200 million GEL from this amount for the expenditure part. The rest of the money is accumulated in the capital City Hall and the boards have been turned into party organizations.
Third, the capital City Hall employs about 24,000 people. In addition, pedestrians should be the main focus, the capital is facing an ecological catastrophe, "Melia said.
