Representatives of non-governmental organizations express distrust in the final conclusion of the parliamentary commission of investigation into the 2020 elections, according to which the elections were not rigged.
The Executive Director of ISFED said that the establishment of the commission of investigation was delayed and that questions related to the elections should have been answered when there were legitimate questions.
At the same time, Nino Dolidze notes that the main goal of the commission was not an objective investigation of the case.
"The establishment of the commission of investigation was delayed, because the questions that existed in connection with the parliamentary elections should have been answered when there were questions of its legitimacy. Their main task was to prove that the 2020 elections were well conducted and that there were no problems. Therefore, as the goal was theirs, the answer, of course, was the same, and their goal was not to investigate and write objective conclusions." - said Nino Dolidze.
Tengo Tevzadze, a representative of the civil platform "2020", called the commission of investigation only formal and said that its work had no significance. According to Tevzadze, the report did not mention the bodies that were responsible for holding the elections in a fair environment.
"They carried out only formal actions, such as deceptive vote counting, which had no meaning at present. This conclusion is made to a very low standard. There is no real talk of responsible bodies, election administration, state structures responsible for fair elections. The goal is to be able to gain more legitimacy in the 2020 parliamentary elections," Tengo Tevzadze said.
Based on the conclusion of the Temporary Commission of investigation into the October 31, 2020, parliamentary elections, the Parliament adopted the resolution yesterday, July 26.
The report states that the 2020 parliamentary elections were competitive and were held in accordance with the principle of fundamental freedoms. At the same time, the report states that the free will expressed by the citizens in the elections was proportionally reflected in the summary protocols published by the CEC.
