Georgian Dream MP Irakli Kobakhidze says that during the meeting with Rick Dempsey, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, they also talked about the violence against journalists on July 5. According to Kobakhidze, the members of the ruling team provided Rick Dems with detailed information about the incident, however, he said that they also talked about the reasons why they could not prevent the violence.
"We also talked about the issue of July 5. We provided detailed information to the President of the Assembly. We once again expressed our sorrow over what happened and condemned it. What happened, of course, is violence and we explained the details of what could have been the reason for all this, including the reason for not being able to prevent violence, and provided detailed information on how the investigation will be conducted," Irakli Kobakhidze said.
The president of PACE also spoke to the media about the events of July 5. According to him, the government should be interested not only in the facts, but also in the reasons of who instigated the violence against journalists and for what purpose.
