"Dream" refuses commitment to the 43% to set an early date - elections will be in good faith

Despite the agreement of Charles Michel, "Georgian Dream" says that "with their good will", the ruling team is ready to call for snap elections even if they get 53%. "Dream" annulled the April 19 agreement at today's briefing and said it had exhausted itself.

"We would like to point out that establishing a healthy tradition of coalition governance and sharing responsibility for governing the state with other political parties is the best European practice, and the Georgian Dream only supports and welcomes this.

Therefore, we are ready, with our good will, to call for early elections, not just with 43% but instead with 53% of the votes, if we learn from the behavior of the opposition parties that our political system is ripe for coalition government and such a regime will not harm the interests of the state.

In such a case, early elections will be called by our good will, in accordance with the Constitution, which is established in developed countries," Kobakhidze said.

For reference, according to the final document of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in case the Georgian Dream could not win 43% in the self-government elections, early parliamentary elections would be called in the country.
