"The election process is not risky," said Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the Georgian Dream party, in connection with the 2021 local elections.
According to Mdinaradze, there are no plans to postpone the elections and if everyone follows the existing regulations, the election process will not be risky.
The leader of the ruling team called on all parties to conduct the election campaign in compliance with the regulations.
"If we all follow the regulations, the electoral process is not risky and can not be compared to the risks that exist in normal household relations. We have a successful experience with previous elections. I call on everyone to run the election campaign in a way that the parties follow the regulations, as we do, and this will be provided by the CEC on election day. The risks here are minimal compared to the usual household risks," said Mamuka Mdinaradze.
At a briefing at the Georgian Dream's office, Mdinaradze also spoke about the ombudsman's call for a state of emergency, saying he would closely monitor who else gets involved in the campaign, which lacks any "real basis."
Mdinaradze said about the ombudsman: "I do not want to blame her for being the outside speaker of the National Movement, but at the very least she is misled."
