They talk Propagandistically about defeating the opposition, but not a single word was said about how to defeat the pandemic | Opposition Response to "Dream"

Opponents of the government respond to the Georgian Dream's accusation that the opposition wants to postpone the elections because they do not hope to win, saying that no one wishes to postpone the elections, but if such a need arises due to the difficult epidemiological situation, they will obey the decision of professionals.

"No opposition party wants to postpone the election. No one has said that. My personal position is that the Coordinating Council, which includes the country's top epidemiologists, should tell us what they are predicting. Instead of talking about defeating or  how they would defeat the pandemic, which kills 60-70 People due to their own inaction, they are propagandistically talking about defeating the opposition, not a single word is being said about how they will defeat the pandemic," said Nika Melia.

Zura Japaridze, the founder of the Girchi - More Freedom party, is convinced that the only point of interest for the government is not public health, but narrow party goals, and that the "Dream" will make a decision in this context.

"Managing the epidemic situation is the responsibility of the government in any case. In any case, if the elections are postponed or not, it is clear that this decision will not be made due to a pandemic or the state of public health in general, but their point of interest will be if any of these decisions are politically profitable," said Zura Japaridze.

As for, the leader of the party "For Georgia" Natia Mezvrishvili says that there is 1 month left before the elections and the government should calculate the risks during this period.

"She is the Public Defender, and it is her duty to take care of human rights and this is the position she has taken in the interest of protecting people's lives and health. It is more than a month before the elections, and it is still possible to rectify the situation," said Natia Mezvrishvili.

As for another opposition leader, Eka Beselia, she thinks that under the current government there is no guarantee that the epidemic will stabilize in a few months, so she does not see the point in postponing the elections.

"There might still be issued after October 2, so I do not think the solution is to postpone the elections. The solution is a change of government," said Eka Beselia.
