According to the Prime Minister, Irakli Gharibashvili, the agreement signed with the Security Service of Belarus will not be used against either Georgia or any citizen of Belarus. Speaking to reporters, Gharibashvili explained that in 2016, when the agreement was signed, Western countries and Belarus had normal relations and were in full coordination.
"We released this information, even the State Security Service clarified that many European, Western countries have signed agreements with similar content with Belarus. In 2016, the State Security Service signed a document with similar content, an agreement with the relevant service of Belarus. Even then, five years later, no one remembered it at all. It just seems that a month ago Belarus itself entered into this agreement and again our pests and enemies of the country started another propaganda campaign against the state and started discrediting our country. From such an angle, they began to cover and spread this information in the West, as if we were dealing with some great abnormal situation. Of course the agreement is not against any citizen, especially against any citizen of Belarus and will not be used. This is a framework agreement under which the security services cooperate on transnational crime, terrorism, etc.," Gharibashvili said.
