Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili accuses the European People's Party and the leaders of the National Movement of anti-state actions.
He said that in 2014, when he was working on obtaining a visa-free regime for Georgia, the UNM, through representatives of the EPP, tried to prevent it.
"Since 2012, the elections were not over yet, when representatives of the EU People's Party came here, spread superficial misinformation, then went to the EU and spread false information, including about the Georgian Dream, its founder, Bidzina Ivanishvili, and so on. Even after that, we have seen, even in 2014, the EPP, the mother party of the National Movement, the umbrella party that is their partner, they have traditionally been in solidarity with them. They do not care what happened, how much crime the UNM have committed and make subjective biased statements.
In 2014, when our country was actively working to obtain a visa-free regime, then the leaders of the National Movement, starting with Saakashvili, Bakradze, Kandelaki and others, were actively working through these MEPs and EPP representatives to prevent Georgia from receiving a visa-free regime. This is an anti-state, harmful policy.
Then there were a number of attempts, and finally we saw Saakashvili and members of this People's Party involved, there was an attempt to impose certain financial sanctions. This decision was made to avoid this and to end the speculations," Gharibashvili said.
