"Dream" puts party interests above the strategic goal of EU integration - "Droa"

The political party "Droa" responds to the refusal of the government to the EU aid and says that the "Dream" is on the path to consolidation of its power and authoritarianism. The party considers the statement of the Prime Minister, according to which the government refuses to receive 75 million EU aid, to be anti-Western.

The party writes that without a thorough reform of the judiciary, it is inconceivable for Georgia to become a successful country, and that is why this issue is in the focus of Allied attention.

"Under the COVID-19 pandemic, the country's economy and the people directly have suffered serious losses, the amount of which is much greater than expected due to the mismanagement and irresponsible management of the pandemic. Given this, yesterday, the Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and the Chairman of the Georgian Dream Irakli Kobakhidze shamelessly told us that the Georgian economy no longer needs an interest-free loan to be provided by the European Union for the purpose of macro-financial assistance and therefore refuse it.

Today, a statement issued by the EU Delegation to Georgia confirmed that the government is turning a blind eye to the macro-financial assistance that Georgia has been denied due to non-compliance with its preconditions, including the withdrawal from the Charles Michel Agreement and the collapse of justice sector reform.

Based on each of the above, it is clear that, assuming that the second tranche of assistance was suspended due to non-fulfillment of commitments with the EU, the Georgian Dream put narrow partisan interests above national interests, the welfare of the Georgian people and the strategic goal of EU integration."
