Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani also reiterates that the economy has positive dynamics and against this background it would be unjustified to take a new loan from the EU. In his view, this would be an even heavier burden for the foreign debt.
Zalkaliani called on the media not to present this decision of the "Dream" as if the country had changed course.
"I think these arguments were absolutely understandable and I want us to learn to read carefully the statements made by our partners and not to present it as if Georgia had changed course and deviated from the Western course and the EU integration process," said David Zalkaliani.
He reiterated yesterday's EU statement to reporters, noting that the problem lies in insufficient compliance with commitments.
"We understand that this conditionality was planted, no one denies it. We say, and this position is based on the legal assessments made by lawyers, as well as the recommendations received from the Venice Commission, that these recommendations have been substantially implemented. There are different perceptions between us and the EU, and this leads to a mismatch of positions here," he said.
