Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream, said the ruling team would support lowering the threshold to 2% in the election and forming a faction, but Kobakhidze said the party would not support a change in the rules for electing a prosecutor general.
The issue of the election of the Attorney General was also considered in the document of Charles Michel. The document states that the appointment of the Prosecutor General will require the votes of a qualified majority of members of parliament, which will ensure the involvement and support of all political parties on a large scale.
According to Kobakhidze, Charles Michel's document regarding the election of the Prosecutor General is "absurd". According to him, the ruling party offers the opposition to continue the discussion on the issue.
"What was reflected in the annulled April 19 agreement is absurd in its content. For me, as a lawyer, it may be insulting to vote for such a norm when it comes to its inclusion in the constitution, hence the discussion will continue," Kobakhidze said.
The draft amendments to the Constitutional Law will be adopted at the sitting of the Committee on Legal Affairs today, and will be discussed in the first reading at the plenary sitting tomorrow.
