Rising Russian influence, refusal to the EU aid , violence - Opposition meets with congressmen

The annulment of the April 19 agreement, the refusal of the "Dream" to accept the European Union aid, the increase of Russia's influence - the members of the opposition met with a delegation of American congressmen in Georgia to discuss these and other issues.

The opposition stated that they gave all the relevant information to the congressmen, including the pressure on media, the July 5 violence and the upcoming elections.

"We talked about all the problems related to the elections, state capture, democracy and foreign policy threats, how Russia's influence is growing here. They have a great interest in where Georgia is going on this issue," the Droa leader said after the meeting.  Elene Khoshtaria.

After the meeting, the leader of "Lelo", Badri Japaridze said that he is sure that personal sanctions will be imposed on specific individuals.

Prior to the meeting, Congressman Alex Mooney told the media that US-Georgia relations were important and that they had arrived in Georgia to meet with all political parties.
