Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairman of the Georgian Dream, explains the critical statements of the EU and the US Embassy with "incorrect consultations". In his view, the change in the rules for electing the Attorney General, as set out in the April 19 agreement, was legal nonsense.
"When it comes to blatant legal nonsense, it needs to be properly assessed by all parties, including international partners. What I'm talking about, in legal terms, is two times two equals four, that this norm would have ruined the regulation that we have today, it would have made it worse. It is unfortunate that both embassies appear to have received incorrect consultations.
Of course, we will meet with the ambassadors of the United States and the European Union. We are always open to that. This is the result of a wrong legal analysis. Naturally, the ambassadors themselves cannot analyze the legal norms. They need the right consultantations." - Irakli Kobakhidze said on Rustavi 2.
