Our authority does not extend to the SSG - the State Inspector about the leaked Audio Files

The Office of the State Inspector responds to the dissemination of covert surveillance materials on the Internet, which is allegedly prepared by the State Security Service.

The agency said in a statement that the service's oversight authority does not extend to the processing of personal data classified as state secrets for the purposes of SSG, defense, intelligence and counterintelligence activities.

Accordingly, the State Inspector clarifies that the agency will not be able to investigate the facts of covert surveillance / surveillance carried out in alleged violation of the legislative requirements in this case and calls on the relevant authorities to launch a timely investigation.

"The Office of the State Inspector, which has been assigned the function of monitoring covert investigative actions, oversees covert investigative actions motivated by a judge's decision or in case of urgent need. The competence of the Service ends where there are signs of crime. However, the oversight authority of the State Inspector's Office does not extend to the processing of personal data classified as state secrets for the purposes of state security, defense, intelligence and counterintelligence activities. Consequently, the Service lacks legislative mechanisms and leverage to investigate the facts of covert surveillance and eavesdropping carried out in alleged breach of legislative requirements," the statement said.
