United Opposition mayoral candidate and chairman of the United National Movement Nika Melia has made a special statement regarding the issue of secret recordings. He notes that the head of the SSG Grigol Liluashvili should resign immediately.

At the same time, Melia promises voters that the political police, be it called the KGB, SSG or anything else - will be abolished.

"I want to make a statement on the dire situation in which the country has been plunged by Ivanishvili's criminal regime. They have been corrupted to the end and, to be honest, many incorruptible people have been corrupted, all the institutions of the country have been destroyed. They left no one who they don't eavesdrop, who they don't spy on, and who they don't blackmail.

Even today, even a child has learned that the power of Ivanishvili and his evil servants is entirely based only on the most dangerous and immoral violence - blackmail and intimidation.
  
From the day he came to power, Ivanishvili's only task was to take complete control of the country and destroy all the authorities along the way that would compete with his power, and many of the authorities have already been destroyed.

In this regard, his attitude towards the Georgian Orthodox Church, which, for years, according to all polls, is the most trusted institution in the country, with the highest authority, was particularly aggressive.

Ivanishvili, through bribery, recruitment and blackmail, managed not only to tarnish its authority and severely damage the church's reputation, but also to employ many clergymen, high or low in the hierarchy, as his personal weapon, including against political opponents and the democratic media.
 
But what is happening in the last days has already gone beyond any scale. We have seen the scale of the lawlessness and crimes committed by the Ivanishvili regime, how horribly immoral this regime is. How compromising information is gathered about the clergy, and then how they are recruited and acted as agents of the SSG.

In addition, unfortunately, in these materials we have seen information / facts about the crimes committed by the clergy. And instead of the government preventing the crime and punishing the perpetrator, the Ivanishvili regime uses the information obtained from the crime for its own manipulations - to blackmail and exploit the clergy.

Today, it is no wonder why the clergy are the executors of the orders of the regime. And at the same time, it became clear what methods are being used to force them to do so. To me, personally, this is the personal human tragedy of every blackmailed priest, monk, nun, or bishop.

Yes, the church and the clergy are victims of Ivanishvili's regime, and because of that this regime should be severely and publically be punished. To be punished for the cruelty, which has never been seen in any country. Just imagine, a believer who finds that that his confessor may have been recruited. The very same confessor who he confessed to yesterday.

Imagine, how hard it feels to doubt the secrecy of confession and to think that your most secret and untouched thoughts have been archived by the SSG. Friends, even in Mongolia, Turkey, Arabia - the clergy kept the secret of confession. It does not matter if you live a church life or not - when you hear what is happening, you realize that there is nothing beyond it - this is the last point - the last sign of disaster. And yes, the Ivanishvili regime should be severely and demonstratively punished for plunging millions of believers into this ordeal and for trying to shake their faith.
 
"We eavesdrop on you all, we rule you… God help you, wake up and destroy this system," We now know who these words belong to. These are the words of the man who, at the cost of his own life, exposed this nightmare and thus exposed the guilty system and repaid his debt to every citizen and the country. Who simultaneously showed us the scale of the crimes committed by the Ivanishvili regime and the appalling immorality.
 
I, as the leader of the main opposition force, consider myself obliged to fight to the last breath to fight not only Ivanishvili and his henchmen, but also lawlessness, state-committed crimes, destruction of our homeland, and for the hope of our people. This is the hardest reality we have now. Let no one deceive himself that something else is happening around us.

We must all act within our responsibility and take active steps so that we do not end up as a destroyed country, we must not let the centuries-old Georgian Orthodox Church be destroyed and, most importantly, we must not let this faceless evil endanger any person and his dignity. Not a single human being. Because in terms of both the state and the church, people are the most important!

Georgians, citizens of Georgia, I feel and know that you want change, that you need change to move forward, to a better future. Go forward, with your fellows and your country. But let us be completely honest - these changes are only in your hands, it is your single vote on election day that gives us politicians the responsibility to be at your service.

With this one vote, you will save the Georgian state. With this one vote, you will save the Georgian Church.
With this one vote you will save everyone who is dear to you. With this one vote you will save the future, independence and freedom of the homeland.

Use this power that only you have. Let’s defeat this violent, vicious, immoral, evil government and the first thing my team and I will do after the victory, I promise, will be to abolish the mockery called the State Security Service.

I promise that the political police, be it the KGB, the SSG or anything else, will be abolished. There will be no agency in the country funded by your taxes that you pay that blackmails you! There will be no machine that tramples on dignity and freedom, hidden under the name of the state, which is against you and spies upon you.

This will happen 100%, I promise this no matter what the cost. I will achieve this with friends, and the main guarantee of this will be the coalition government of the country!

Today, neither the City Hall nor any of the City Council seats is a public bet - we have a much more important thing to win, the normal future of our country. People! Not bright, not big, not grandiose - just a normal future - where you are not oppressed, blackmailed, life is not ruined! The time has come for a historic turning point, and we will make this turning point together !!! The dark will stay behind, and the light will win! "- Melia noted.
