We appealed the wiretapping legislation in 2018, but the court has not yet made a decision - Lomjaria

Public Defender Nino Lomjaria says that her office, as well as non-governmental organizations and individuals, have repeatedly appealed the law on wiretapping in the Constitutional Court, although the court has not yet made a decision.

As for the secret files of the SSG released a few days ago, Lomjaria noted that the case should be investigated by the prosecutor's office, however, she said that so far no timely and effective investigation of such cases has taken place.

"The Public Defender, non-governmental organizations and individuals have appealed to the Constitutional Court against the wiretapping legislation, which allows the SSG to listen to our citizens in an uncontrolled manner, but after 2018 the Constitutional Court left the deliberation room and has not yet made a decision.

Legally, of course, the prosecutor's office should investigate this crime, however, we have not seen an effective, timely investigation, and we have not seen people punished for this systemic crime," Nino Lomjaria said.
