A protest rally is being held in Dmanisi following an attack on opposition supporters.
Nika Melia, Tbilisi mayoral candidate of the United Opposition, Elene Khoshtaria, Tbilisi city council chairperson candidate, MP Kakha Okriashvili and other opposition leaders are present on the spot. They are protesting against the cases of increased violence and condemning the fact of the wounding that took place yesterday.
As Nika Melia noted in his speech, the authorities issued an order to attack the UNM supporters in order to intimidate the population.
"The whole world has already heard what a vicious and evil regime our country has, in the fight, against which Dmanisi and the people of Dmanisi take a big part. The government issued a special order from Tbilisi. To make these people scared with injuries, beatings, threats and violence. The opposite happened - Bidzina Ivanishvili! Dmanisi does not break, Georgia does not break! You are abusers, you are sounders! You are resorting to the most horrible, immoral methods of violence!" Said Nika Melia.
He once again called on supporters to go to the polls and said that all those who abused civilians were to be punished.
"With our hands raised, peacefully, unwaveringly, firmly, let us go to the polls on October 2 with our ballot paper and face this regime. This is not a threat, everyone will face justice! every sounders!" Melia said.
For reference, in Dmanisi, in the village of Gantiadi, supporters of the ruling team went to a meeting of the opposition and physically confronted the citizens gathered there. 3 people were injured during the confrontation. Two of them received multiple injuries to the face, head and hands. The injured needed surgery. Their condition is satisfactory at this time.
