If the Georgian people do not do something, neither the US nor I can change anything - Mikheil Saakashvili

The third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, spoke about the meetings held in the United States Congress and Senate.

As he noted, the main message of the American partners was that if the Georgian people themselves do not want to create a free, democratic system, they will not be able to help.

"Everyone in the US Congress tells me they are tired. The phrase 'we love Georgia' is heard, but if the Georgian people do not want freedom and a normal democratic system, what can we do to help? We have many other problems in the world. If they do not want to fight, why do we have to fight for them. I heard this phrase about 15 times yesterday and the day before, If you do not want freedom, what are you expecting from us?, what are you doing and why are you bothering us here". Americans will not help us if sanctions are not imposed, no,  Americans will not impose sanctions unless do something ourselves," Mikheil Saakashvili said.

He also noted that he will fulfill his promise to return to Georgia, but without the high turnout in the elections, the difficult situation in the country will not change.

"If Misha does not arrive, nothing will help us" - I will certainly do what I said, but if we do not do something, nothing will change. Misha has two hands and two legs, one mouth, and he will be easily silenced, If the Georgian people do not do something. We have a few days left to act. Nothing will change without our active actions, but we must be ready for it. Otherwise, Georgia looks like a child stuck in a class. We will fight very actively. I am not going to consider anything other than what is right for Georgia," said the third president of Georgia.
