"With the local elections approaching, we are seeing an increase in emotions in the country. I want to make it clear: violence or intimidation is unacceptable by any person, group or party.

I have said before that I condemn any acts of violence. The Georgian people want peace, stability and prosperity. Our people deserve an election campaign that is in line with the values ​​of our country and shows that our nation is committed to the idea of ​​democracy.

I call on all political parties, their activists and supporters, especially members of the radical opposition, to refrain from any provocative actions that may lead to violence and aggravation of the situation. Let us wait calmly for Election Day and on October 2, in polling stations, in a democratic environment, each citizen will make his or her own choice so that our country can continue to develop steadily," the statement said.
