The Ministry of Defense filed a lawsuit against Davit Kezerashvili

The Ministry of Defense of Georgia has filed a lawsuit against Davit Kezerashvili and the Head of the State Procurement Department, Alexander Ninua, in the City Court, demanding compensation for the damage caused by the criminal act against the Ministry of Defense.

A guilty verdict has already been handed down in the above-mentioned criminal case and according to the decision of the Supreme Court of Georgia, the accused Davit Kezerashvili and Alexander Ninua were found guilty. The judgments of the three instances of the courts established that due to the improper fulfillment of the obligations imposed on Alexander Ninua, a debt of 5 060 000 Euros was accrued to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, which caused a substantial violation of the legitimate interest of the state, while Davit Kezerashvili used his official position to misappropriate a large amount of budget funds from the Ministry of Defense of Georgia under his legal ownership and administration. This case concerns only one case when more than 5 million Euros were embezzled from the state.

A criminal case is not just a case of corruption, as the money was simply transferred to an offshore company, without the purchase and delivery of any goods. This action clearly reflects the unscrupulous attitude towards the state budget, which was purposefully revealed by the previous government. We emphasize once again that this criminal case is not just a case of corruption, but a case of organized embezzlement of funds from the budget by the previous government.
