Comments should not be made from the party today, but from the agencies - Zurabishvili's statement

Published:

The President of Georgia has issued a statement regarding the arrival of the third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, and tomorrow's elections.

Salome Zurabishvili says that the country needs peace the most now.

Zurabishvili also instructed state agencies.

We offer the statement in full:

"There is a circulation of unrest in the country. This is at a time when the countries need calm the most, in order for tomorrow's elections to be held in an open, fair and free environment.

True or false, this topic in itself disrupts the pre-election environment, and strains the already tense and tired society, and shows the precondition for even greater polarization.

Whoever spreads and speculates on this topic, it turns out that he is not thinking about the country or fair elections, but is betting, as they say, on October 3, on the street, or destabilization. The speech calls on the citizens to come to the peaceful elections but by their actions they actually show the suspicion that other preparations are being made instead of the elections.

On the other hand, the reaction of the government is not what it owes, what the society expects and what will calm it down and bring it back to the pre-election mood. Comments should not come from the party today, but from state agencies that are obliged to prove the facts to the public with lies and to appease them. Ridicule and ridicule are not the answer when some people question the effectiveness of state structures in the country.

It is the responsibility of the government to prevent all attempts and destabilization of all pre-election tensions and destabilization and not to allow polarization, even with its own calls.

The responsibility for maintaining a peaceful and free electoral environment lies with the government.

The society is not preparing for October 3, no party will follow such a destructive path, because we, the society, are well aware of where the polarization on the streets can go. The time of civil strife has passed and no one responsible should play this fire if the country and its future are to be cared for. This time I believe will not come back, for our citizens are much more vigilant than politicians. I stand with them, not on any street or square, but on the side of constitutional order and a peaceful future. I call everyone to responsibility - says Zurabishvili
