The court sentenced the father and son arrested in the case of Mikheil Saakashvili to imprisonment

The city court sentenced Zurab and Shalva Tsotsoria to imprisonment as a measure of restraint. The decision was recently announced.

The investigation into the case of bringing Mikheil Saakashvili to Georgia accuses the father and son of covering up the crime.

The detainees exercise their right to remain silent, but confirm the fact of meeting with the third president and say that he was also transported.

The lawyer demanded bail for the detainees. The ombudsman says the case is entirely political, and the accusation leveled against his clients is absurd.

"At this stage, the right to remain silent is being used as part of the preventive measure. I do not really expect from the court that it will leave my clients without restraint because this is a matter directly based on political motives.

The accusations leveled at my clients are completely absurd, it does not fit into the current legislation.

What they mean by covering up the crime is communication and transportation with Mikheil Saakashvili. What is the crime?, did they prevent any investigations? What did these people prevent the state from doing? Absolutely nothing," said lawyer Giorgi Goginava.

Relatives of the arrested father and son in the court yard say they are being punished only for being supporters of the third president. According to them, the government is artificially conducting the case.
