Lawyers met with the third President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, at the Rustavi 12th Penitentiary Establishment.
According to human rights activists, Mikheil Saakashvili's rights as a convict are restricted and the prosecutor's office is doing everything possible to prevent him from communicating with the public.
According to them, the prosecutor's office has restricted Mikheil Saakashvili's right to call, as far as public hearings are concerned, they will probably not be held until the second round of elections.
"The frightened, shameful government refuses to hold the trials of Mikheil Saakashvili, they are afraid of Mikheil Saakashvili appearing in court. We received a reply yesterday in one of the cases pending in the City Court requesting a review of the measure of restraint, and we received the answer that we have no deadlines and will hold the trial on November 10th.
We also asked for a scheduling on the jacket case, and we have not received a response so far. Today, the prison received a request from the prosecutor's office not to allow Mikheil Saakashvili to make phonecalls," Beka Basilaia said.
