The third president of Georgia has been on hunger strike for the seventh day in the 12th penitentiary institution in Rustavi. Mikheil Saakashvili will be visited in prison today by his lawyers, who say that the convicted president has been waiting in vain for the trial to be held.
Lawyers are convinced that the authorities are artificially obstructing the hearing of the case.
"Mikheil Saakashvili has declared a hunger strike, which means that after some time he will no longer be able to physically attend the trials, so we asked the court to schedule a hearing as soon as possible," Dimitri Sadzaglishvili said.
Mikheil Saakashvili is also waiting for the head of the government to accept his challenge to conduct a drug test directly in front of journalists at the chancellery.
"He is ready to, with Gharibashvili, conduct any test to determine the use of any drug," said the lawyer.
According to him, the government is afraid of the third president appearing in public, because this will dispel the myths that he is broken, afraid, etc.
