"You will go to prison" - commotion in Zugdidi District Commission

Published:

There was a commotion in the Zugdidi District Election Commission, where the counting of votes took place throughout the night. The votes of 4 precinct election commissions were counted, after which the results in one precinct were annulled.

The opposition noticed when opening the sealed ballots that they had already been opened, and this was immediately protested. It turned out that many ballots were considered invalid ballots, ostensibly due to mechanical error of the counters. In fact, the ballots were pre-edited and reworked in favor of the Georgian Dream.

The second round of elections will be held in one of the polling stations, where the opposition had a majority in the City Council, but after yesterday's recount, the "National Movement" lost one majoritarian.

On the fourth day after the elections, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Georgian Dream, whose son is a member of the City Council, filed a complaint regarding the vote count.

Members of the opposition commission demanded that the complaint not be considered, although the district chairman did not take this into account. The National Movement is going to apply to the prosecutor's office and request an investigation on the ballots.
