The group arrested in Turkey on espionage charges is connected with the case of planning the liquidation of journalist Giorgi Gabunia - political scientist Zura Batiashvili reports.

According to the investigation, 6 Russian citizens were detained two days ago in Istanbul and Antalya.

The Turkish side reported that the group was also engaged in collecting military and economic intelligence.

According to reports, their plan was to liquidate a Chechen blogger, Hasan Khalitov, for which they paid $300,000.

Khalitov himself said he had information that he had been spied upon for several months. As a result of the search, firearms were also found:

"Six Russian citizens have been arrested in Turkey. Their leader is a friend of Vasambek Bokov. This is the Bokov who was arrested in connection with the assassination of Giorgi Gabunia. Vasambek Bokov introduced me to the arrested Beslan personally and told me that he was his relative. When i came to Turkey, Beslan was already waiting for me here. As i heard, he was paying $300 000 for my murder"
