"The Georgian government knows better when, what and how it needs such things," said Guram Macharashvili, a Georgian Dream parliamentarian, replying to the critique of the MEPs for the government's refusal to receive the EU aid.

In a reply letter to the opposition, the chairman of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, David McAllister, and MP Marina Kaliurand, stated that the government's arguments were not entirely convincing to them.

"I think a family member and leader knows more what a family needs than any commercial bank in this case, or any of your partners, or rather not a partner, one of the representatives of said partners, because the EU is one thing and one or two MEPs are another. I repeat, the Georgian government knows better when, what and how it needs such things, "Guram Macharashvili said.
