God forbid, there is no risk of his death - Tsulukiani on Mikheil Saakashvili

Published:

I call on everyone to look at the statistics, how low the mortality rate is in Georgian prisons and how low the rate of transfers of prisoners to civilian clinics are - Minister of Culture Tsulukiani responds to Mikheil Saakashvili's hunger strike.

According to him, the system works effectively and there is no danger of Mikheil Saakashvili's health deteriorating.

"I remember that while I was still a minister, the rate of prisoners who had to go to a civilian clinic for surgery was practically gone. Consequently, the system works, the system is effective, the medical part of the penitentiary system, and is, of course, very open and transparent. I understand people who visually fail to see a prisoner think bad thoughts, but there will be court hearings soon as well. Any MP has the right to visit, the Public Defender has the right to visit, and if any other mechanism is found to have more visual contact with this person, of course, the suspicions will be neutralized, and we will all see that there is no real risk of deteriorating health in Saakashvili.  Moreover, God forbid, any risk of his death. There is no risk because the system is up to the challenge," Tsulukiani said.
