The Metropolitan of Akhalkalaki Kumurdo and Kari, Reverend Nikoloz, explained why he signed the petition for the release of Mikheil Saakashvili.

Reverend Nikoloz was in Rustavi prison and met with the third president:

"Every person should be held accountable for his crimes, but today we live in a reality where so many crimes have been committed in the last 30 years especially and such crimes have been committed that they can never be forgotten.

I think that instead of blaming and condemning each other, we should all ask each other for forgiveness," said Reverend Nicholoz, who just existed the prison.

As Nicholasloz says, this is his personal position and not that of the Synod.

As for the hunger strike of the third president, as a member of the Synod says, it is his political decision, in which he can not intervene.
