The large-scale rally planned in Tbilisi will be joined by the people from several regions. Locals say the third president of Georgia is a personal prisoner of Putin and Ivanishvili and should be released.
"We all understand very well that today the protection of the freedom and sovereignty of our country really lies upon the health and life of the third president of Georgia. I think it is a matter of the dignity of the whole country that we do not allow Ivanishvili, Putin, this group of people to oppress the third president of Georgia and our country," said Giorgi Kirtadze, one of the UNM leaders.
Opponents of the government are demanding that Mikheil Saakashvili be taken to an appropriate clinic and that early elections be called. Several thousands of people are expected for the rally from Imereti.
"We will not move from Rustaveli until our main demand is met and Mikheil Saakashvili is taken to the clinic immediately, this is the number one demand," said Ani Tsitlidze, one of the UNM leaders.
For information, the rally will be held in Tbilisi on Liberty Square at 8 PM.
