The President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has released a statement on the possible transfer of Mikheil Saakashvili to the Gori military hospital and writes that she welcomes this decision. Zurabishvili writes that she welcomes the end of the hunger strike of Elena Khoshtarya.
I welcome the plan of transferring the former President to Gori Military Hospital, because this place meets all standards in terms of medical care and security.
This decision is thus fully in line with the request of the Strasbourg Court, which the former President himself agreed to in advance, stating that he would end his hunger strike if he were transferred to a multidisciplinary hospital.
I also welcome Elena Khoshtaria's decision to end the hunger strike. The opposition's willingness not to hold protests outside the polyclinic is important and correct, as is the decision of some parties to end their boycott of parliament. "Today's decisions are a step forward, which will ensure peace in the society and stability of the country" - stated Salome Zurabishvili.
