"We will not stop fighting until Mikheil Saakashvili is released from this illegal imprisonment"| Nika Melia

Thanks to tireless struggle this spark is transformed into real result - chairman of National Movement Nika Melia addressed to the supporters gathered at the rally on Rustaveli Avenue.

In his address, Nika Melia assessed the past period and said that the opposition and the people were able to avoid bloodshed in the historic struggle and responded in peaceful and purposeful protests against the Georgian Dream's provocation.

"We are of course humanly happy, we know that Mikheil Saakashvili is not facing death. Elena Khoshtaria, our friends, deputies and many other people who were on hunger strike, and their numbers were growing, but this is only human joy.

As for political, civil, broader joy, we did not yet experience it until we know that there is a usurper government in the country, a regime that has taken over the state.  It has stolen the election and is trying to force that reality upon the people.

But the vast majority of the citizens of Georgia do not tolerate this false reality and the struggle will of course continue in the same non-violent but very harsh forms and methods.

I will inform you about the plan of action in the near future, and I cannot help highlighting the insidious plan on the table, which they could not implement, and this plan meant bloodshed, civil strife, and the fact that it did not happen was entirely your merit and not the regime in any case. Because the regime, on the contrary, tried to cause bloodshed.

Why didn't they care before, why didn't they show humanity before? Today you would have had an opportunity to hear statements by members of the Georgian Dream. The Chairman of their party came out and said that their main principle is humanity, the protection of human rights and human health.  They were not even planning to kill Mikheil Saakashvili, they wanted to break him.

Because they knew that killing Mikheil Saakashvili would put them in a bind and they stalled for time, they spread derogatory videos along the way, insulting him as a prisoner, for us to lose control and give them grounds to use special forces and tell the international community that we were preparing a coup d'état. If there's anyone overthrowing the state, it's the Georgian Dream, time will come and I'll talk about the specific facts of what we've experienced. Each of us walked on very thin ice.

A major adventure awaits us-until Mikheil Saakashvili is released from this illegal imprisonment, we will not stop fighting, until the Georgian Dream holds the state captive, we will not stop fighting. We are not alone, our European and American partners are with us," Nika Melia said.

Nika Melia called upon the supporters not to fall pray to any provocations by the government during Mikheil Saakashvili's transfer and openly declared that none of the opposition members and supporters will hold a rally near Gori military hospital.
