Sergeenko does not believe that Nikoloz Kipshidze is demanding a delay in sentencing the third president with an intention to evade arrest

Davit Sergeenko does not believe that Mikheil Saakashvili's personal physician is asking for a delay in sentencing the third president because he is avoiding the imprisonment.

When asked by journalists, is this an attempt to get Mikheil Saakashvili out of jail? Sergeenko replies: "I don't think this is the position of his doctor. It is not confirmed by other doctors. His personal doctor always has his patient's best interests in mind. I don't think there is a political issue here," Sergeenko said.

According to the Dream MP, Mikheil Saakashvili's doctor has made two statements with which he agrees to a certain extent.

"Mikheil Saakashvili's doctor made two statements, one saying that it would be desirable to consider postponing the sentence until the end of treatment and the next day he said that the main thing is to follow the process of finalization, which is proceeding normally and the previous topic is the next subject of discussion. I completely agree with the second statement and also partly with the first because the interests of the patient are most important to me. The Legislation has a deferred sentence for illness, but it has specific criteria by which all this is done. I hope that the treatment process will be successful and there is no need to enact this part of the legislation," said Sergeenko.
