Censorship and another attempt to restrict critical opinion - The regulatory commission is trying to fine the Mtavari Channel

Published:

The regulatory commission is trying to fine the Mtavari Channel for a video clip produced by the social movement "Shame" who asked the channel to put it on air:

"In this clip, the portrait of Vladimir Putin is created with images of the Georgian Dream members. With this image we are protesting the change of foreign policy of the country. We protest the pro-Russian policy of the government, which serves the interests of the Kremlin.

Attempts to sanction the "Mtavari Channel" are a step against freedom of speech and expression; we see another attempt to legitimize censorship and generally limit critical thinking. This is what we are protesting against with the video," they say in "Shame".

A meeting, they said, at the regulator is due to start today.
