The Batumi city council meeting came to an end. With the approval of Batumi's 2022 budget, the expired Dream legislators also supported an increase in the salaries of the city mayor and high-ranking officials of the city hall.

The meeting was attended by 16 lawmakers, 14 of whom are members of Georgian Dream and 2 are members of former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia's party. Opposition lawmakers were not allowed to attend the session, some of them were forcibly evicted from the Adjara Supreme Council building.

Only members of the Dream supported the approval of the budget and salary increases. Representatives of the For Georgia party did not take part in the vote.

Batumi's newly elected mayor considers the approved budget "unprecedented" in the history of the city.

"It is important that today Batumi City Council approved next year's budget, which was determined quite firmly, in the amount of unprecedented 254 million 47 thousand GEL. This is an unprecedented budget in the history of Batumi. The budget reflects all the directions that are necessary for the development of the city and for solving the problems of the citizens," Chikovani said.
