The third president of Georgia is met by lawyers at the Gori Military Hospital. The lawyers will brief Mikheil Saakashvili about yesterday's trial, as well as the hearing scheduled for December 2.
Lawyer Dimitri Sadzaglishvili said that although they do not expect the judges to make impartial and independent decisions, it is important for Mikheil Saakashvili to be able to attend the trials and address the public.
"Basically, we don't want to create an illusion that we expect anything from the court and that the court can make an impartial and independent decision regarding the third president of Georgia, who is in fact a prisoner, and we have heard confessions, especially from Irakli Garibashvili, Irakli Kobakhidze. Naturally, we do not live in a fantasy to believe that a particular judge will make a decision that instead of please the government, will assesses the factual circumstances on legitimately.
Nevertheless, the opportunity to address the public is very important to Mikheil Saakashvili. He had such an opportunity yesterday and will attend the next hearing, and will exercise his right to an unfair trial. As it is not waiting for an objective trial, it is an opportunity to have public relations," said Dimitri Sadzaglishvili.
