"His arrest is illegal" - Gigi Ugulava is still awaiting prosecution

Gigi Ugulava, detained during a rally in front of the city court, is still awaiting charges. He remains in Marneuli detention facility. The 48-hour deadline for his arrest expires today at 12 PM, according to his lawyer, the investigating agency is deliberately dragging out the process of filing charges.

"Both the detention of Gigi Ugulava and the two days of his detention in Marneuli Temporary Detention Facility are totally illegal and aimed at intimidating politically active citizens and political leaders not to participate in future opposition protests," said his lawyer Giorgi Kondakhishvili.

Gigi Ugulava is accused of disobeying the police.
