Parliament appoints 4 judges for life to the Supreme Court

The Parliament of Georgia supported candidates to the Supreme Court of Justice.
As a result of the ruling panel's decision, the Supreme Court nominees for life were:
- Genadi Makaridze (81 in favour, 5 against);
- Tamar Okropiridze (81 in favour, 5 against);
- Nino Sandodze (80 in favour, 5 against);
- Tea Dzimistarashvili (81 in favour, 5 against).
It should be noted that the parliamentary hearings of the candidates took place without the opposition. The EU Embassy was not involved in the process either. Ambassador Karl Hartzel said that the reason was the non-compliance with the issued recommendations. The US embassy also sharply criticised the Government for not stopping the selection of judges. The embassy said in a statement that the United States was disappointed.
