What is the state of health of Georgia's third president Mikheil Saakashvili - the group of experts of the Public Defender publish their conclusion:
On December 12, 2021, a group of experts / specialists established by the Public Defender visited the patient (accused / convicted) Mikheil Saakashvili for the fourth time. The patient has been staying at Giorgi Abramishvili Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defense since November 19, 2021.
The following experts participated in the visit: Aida Gozalova, Tengiz Tsuladze, Giorgi Kacharava, Nino Zavrashvili, Grigoli Khurtsidze, Giorgi Papiashvili, Giorgi Grigolia and Marine Kuratashvili. The experts visited Mikheil Saakashvili, assessed his health condition on site, spoke with the doctors, and reviewed the patient's medical records. It was stressed that the medical personnel at the hospital are ready to cooperate fully.
After the visit, the expert group held an online discussion, which was also attended by the expert Mamuka Machaidze.

From a somatic point of view, the patient's condition is more or less satisfactory in light of the course of treatment. However, the expert panel will provide further recommendations, which will be discussed in detail in the addendum.
It is noteworthy that a recommendation for psychotherapy was made by the expert group on November 25, but has not yet been implemented. The expert group in the field of pharmacological treatment also has comments in this area, which will also be presented in the annex.
Physical rehabilitation is going on with insufficient capacity. The expert group believes that this cycle of treatment can be facilitated by the timely initiation of psychotherapy.

For reference, Mikheil Saakashvili was detained by authorities on October 1, 2021. Since then he has been held for 50 days, first in Rustavi and then in the Gldani penitentiary. On 19 November he was taken to the Gori military hospital after his condition deteriorated. Georgia's third president is still in the Gori hospital.
