Georgia's third president Mikheil Saakashvili has asked the authorities to agree to a visit by the fourth president, George Margvelashvili.

"As an exception, allow Georgia's fourth president, Giorgi Margvelashvili, to visit me at the Gori military hospital," Mikheil Saakashvili said in a statement.
