Giorgi Margvelashvili will be given an opportunity to meet with convict Mikheil Saakashvili - statement by special penitentiary service

The Special Penitentiary Service has granted former Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili's request. Accordingly he will be granted an opportunity to meet with Mikheil Saakashvili, who was convicted in Gori Military Hospital.

"Giorgi Margvelashvili applied to the Special Penitentiary Service to meet with the convicted Mikheil Saakashvili on December 20. The Special penitentiary service of Georgia granted the request, as the medical personnel state that the meeting can be held due to the positive health condition of Mikheil Saakashvili, and the Service has no opposing positions.

In addition, we clarify that the Special Penitentiary Service is trying its best to help each accused/convict to fully exercise the rights granted to him/her the by law," the statement said.
