The health condition of Georgia's imprisoned third president remains critical. Late last night Mikheil Saakashvili was visited by his personal doctor Nikoloz Kipshidze and a neurologist of the Alternative Council Otar Toidze.
According to Toidze, there are signs of peripheral nervous system damage, which is manifested by the fact that the third president cannot feel the floor and as a result can hardly move around.
"Wernicke's encephalopathy is still at the forefront of the clinical picture. We are very concerned that it will develop into Korsakoff syndrome, which is a very serious condition. Neuropathy or signs of damage to the peripheral nervous system, manifested by not feeling the floor, he has difficulty moving accordingly. Along with spinal dysfunction, he cannot feel, he has a number of sensory disorders, and in the segment where these disorders are observed, he has a rash, which we still consider to be neurodermatitis," said Otar Toidze.
