The lawyer of Georgia's third president, Evgeny Grushovets, says the Ukrainian prosecutor's office will be contacted today about the inhuman treatment of Mikheil Saakashvili.
The lawyers have been informed of the Empathy conclusion and it will be sent to Ukraine's Public Defender and President Zelenski.
The lawyer is confident that the Ukrainian prosecutor's office will launch an investigation into several criminal cases.
"We have studied the documents sent by the Empathy Centre and today we will write a statement to the prosecutor's office. I am sure that the Ukrainian prosecutor's office will initiate several criminal cases on the treatment Mikheil Saakashvili, including against doctors who misdiagnosed and mistreated him.
We are dealing with violation of human rights, unfortunately, the Government of Georgia does not meet these minimum standards and does not protect the prisoners' right to health; this is violation of the law. I am sure that by these actions of the government Mikheil Saakashvili is in serious danger. After he was transferred to Rustavi prison, we don't know what kind of medication my client is being treated with and whether such a course of treatment is acceptable at all," said Evgeny Grusovets.
