Another trial of the third president will take place today, on January 13 at the Tbilisi City Court. Mikheil Saakashvili says he will attend the trial himself. This will be his first appearance in the courtroom after several pauses.
The case is about the illegal crossing of the state border, the hearing of which is scheduled for today at 13:00.
Simultaneously, the National Movement and its supporters will hold a peaceful protest in front of the court.
For reference, 4 other persons have been charged with the same case - Elguja Tsomaia, Zurab Tsotsoria, Shalva Tsotsoria and Giorgi Narimanidze. The prosecutor's office started investigating the case in October, after Mikheil Saakashvili returned to his home country.e
